CRBI and Terrapin Outdoor Center team up to explore Piedmont's Paddling Gem this Saturday, May 15
The Coosa River Basin Initiative (CRBI) and Terrapin Outdoor Center will host a canoe/kayak paddle on Terrapin Creek, Saturday, May 15, allowing local residents and visitors to explore a beautiful whitewater stream nestled in the ridges near Piedmont, Alabama.
“Terrapin Creek has been a long-time paddling destination in Northeast Alabama,” said Joe Cook, CRBI Executive Director and Riverkeeper. “Terrapin Outdoor Center puts hundreds of people on this creek each year through their canoe and kayak rental business and we’re excited about partnering with them to introduce more people to this important tributary of the Coosa River.”
The eight-mile trip includes numerous Class I rapids and provides a good introduction to whitewater paddling. To register for the trip, contact Volunteer CRBI Paddle Trip Coordinator Alan Crawford at 706-291-7449 or via e-mail at fatboyal@bellsouth.net or register online at www.coosa.org at the Paddle Trips link.
Pre-registration is required. The trip is free to CRBI members. Canoes and kayaks can be rented through Terrapin Outdoor Center.
CRBI is a 501c3 non-profit organization and member of the international Waterkeeper Alliance. Its mission is to inform and empower citizens to protect, preserve and restore North America’s most biologically diverse river basin.
