The board also approved $5,000 for a security project at Centre Elementary School.
In personnel action, the board accepted the retirement of Candice McKinney as library media specialist at Cedar Bluff School after 14 years of service.
“When Candice first started working for the board of education, Mrs. Linda Prater and I had the privilege of jointly writing a letter of recommendation for her to be hired with her first job with the board as a job coach at the career tech center,” said Mitchell Guice, superintendent, Cherokee County Schools. “And she went on to Sand Rock to teach English from there and is finishing up at Cedar Bluff. She will be missed from the system.”
The board also met in executive session for two student disciplinary hearings and following the hearings agreed to expel the students for the remainder of the school year and on probation for the next school year that they are in attendance.
