Former Mayor Ethel Sprouse requested that property on old Highway 9 be rezoned from residential to commercial for the purpose of putting an office building on the property. The property is behind Johnson’s Pharmacy. After much discussion the council voted 3-2 to reject the application for rezoning.
Kelley Burnett was named as the town’s new assistant clerk.
The council approved Model Tee’s to remove the school sign off of private property at the intersection of Highway 68 and County Road of 44 in the amount of $100.
They also approved Cedar Bluff as a team for the Relay for Life, as requested in a previous meeting, by Mattie Williams.
The Police, Fire Department, and Building Inspector reports were accepted as read. Chief Waldon reported that there were no traffic accidents in the town of Cedar Bluff in the month of January 2013.
Mayor Baker announced the application for ATRIP funds would apply only to Highway 68 and Alabama Highway 9. She stated that other roads were in more of repair in the town than these.
The Council approved the alcohol application for Harton’s Nursery and Grocery.
The next planning meeting of the Cedar Bluff Town Council will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, at 4:30 p.m.
