The Family Care Center at 1014 West Main St. includes a Thrift Store open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Family Care Center helps others by giving clothing, food and possibly hope to families in their time of need. The Center asks for your help by supporting its thrift stores. There are currently three locations, the one in Centre, another at 5511 Main St. in Hokes Bluff and another in Cedar Bluff. The Center is currently helping more than 100 families per week and thanks the community for its continued support. Director is Cindy McGinnis.

Visit the beautiful Rock Village, home of some of the best hiking and rock climbing throughout the world. Enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. Go to the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Highway 68 in Leesburg, turn right, turn left on Cherokee County 36, to the intersection of County Road 36 and County Road 70, turn left and follow the signs.

The Cherokee County Herald has moved to the Piggly Wiggly Shopping Center. The Chamber of Commerce hold a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. prior to the open house Come by and say hello to Editor, Terry Dean and his staff. They are vital part of our community that keep us informed. Cherokee County Kiwanis Club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at noon in the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room, 801 Cedar Bluff Road, Centre, Ala. 35960.

All retirees of the Cherokee County Education Retirees Association are invited to attend the monthly meeting at Lanny’s Restaurant (in the private dining room) Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Representative Richard Lindsey, House District 39 for Cherokee, Cleburne and Dekalb Counties. Time permitting, Rep. Lindsey will take questions from the audience concerning retirement and educational decisions for the state of Alabama. After a short business meeting conducted by Millie Rowley, vice-president, everyone is invited to stay for a “Dutch-treat” lunch and socialize with other retirees. This is unacceptable. There are 10 typos in this article. Also, being a paper in Alabama you should know the correct abbreviation for Alabama is AL not Ala.
