MR. CHARLES GORDON KNIGHTEN

Mr. Charles Gordon Knighten, 91 of Centre, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Centreville. Mr. Knighten was a native of Cherokee County, was the owner of the Dari King in Centre for 45 years. He was a veteran of WWII, and received a purple heart, a bronze star and a battle of the bulge metal. He was a master chef, a mason and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 11, 2013 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Nation and Rev. Jim Griffin officiating. Burial followed in Cherokee Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jacob Knighten Education Fund c/o The Southern Bank. Perry Funeral Home directing. www.perryfuneral.net.

Survivors include sons, Gordon Ray Knighten of Marion, Benny (Teresa) Knighten of Lansing, Michigan, sister, Mary (Vance) Stinson of Centre, one grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Knighten was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Knighten.

Mr. Knighten was the son of the late Benjamin B. and Rose Mae Price Knighten.
