Cedar Bluff basketball teams sweep Gaston

CEDAR BLUFF - The Cedar Bluff Tiger basketball teams swept a varsity doubleheader over visiting Gaston on Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers claimed a 37-29 victory, while the Tiger boys won the nightcap 59-53.

In the girls game, Katie McGinnis and Delilah Price both scored 11 points to lead the Lady Tigers (13-11).

Felecia Porter led Gaston with 13 points. Destiny Allen added seven points.

Gaston led 7-4 at the end of the first quarter. The game was tied at 11 at halftime. Cedar Bluff held a 20-19 advantage at the end of the third quarter, then went on a 17-10 run in the fourth for the final.

In the nightcap, Terrence Scales scored 21 points to lead the Tigers to victory. DeAngelo Hardy added 16 and Levi Mintz came away with 10.

Trevion Rooks led Gaston with 26 points.

Cedar Bluff (17-7) led throughout the game. The Tigers held a 15-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 35-24 advantage at halftime. Gaston cut its deficit down to 49-45 at the end of the third quarter, but the Tigers held on down the stretch for the final.

Both Cedar Bluff teams are in action on Thursday at Cherokee County.
