With renovations to University Field's grandstand and press box wrapping up, the event will be focused on the outfield area of the stadium. Fans are asked to enter through the outfield gates and sit in grassy area beyond the outfield fences. Fans are welcome to bring lawn chairs.
The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Champion and four-time NCAA Regional Participant Gamecocks will be on hand for a day filled with free prizes and snacks. Free t-shirts will be among the many giveaways, while soda and popcorn will also be free to those in attendance.
Fans are encouraged to come out and meet and interact with the members of the 2013 JSU softball team, as well as its coaching staff. Also, all members of the Gamecocks' roster will be available for autographs during the day. Cocky will also be in attendance.
Head coach Jana McGinnis is prepping her team for her 20th season in 2013, which begins on Feb. 8 at the Southeastern Louisiana Lion Classic in Hammond, La. The Gamecocks open their home schedule on Feb. 19, when they host Alabama A&M in a 4 p.m. doubleheader at University Field.
The home opener will also host the dedication of the renovated University Field.
