Tuesday Basketball Roundup: Collinsville sweeps Gaylesville

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers swept a varsity basketball doubleheader from Class 1A, Area 10 rival Gaylesville on Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers earned a 55-29 victory, while the third-ranked Panther boys claimed a 65-21 win.

In the girls game, Kiana Ford led the charge for Collinsville (18-4) with 16 points. Christy Cox added 13 points and Savannah Boyles had 12. Brittany Tidmore finished with four points and six assists and five steals.

Taylor Tomlin led the Lady Trojans (7-10) with nine points.

In the nightcap, Deshawn Moore and Jalyn Martin both scored 14 points to lead the Panthers (21-2). Daniel Bradford added eight points.

Gable Lawson led Gaylesville (3-14) with 13 points.

Collinsville is scheduled to host Etowah on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. Gaylesville travels to Spring Garden on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.

Cherokee County girls 45, Hokes Bluff girls 44

HOKES BLUFF – Cherokee County junior guard Jessen Burk sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Class 4A, No. 9 Lady Warriors to a 45-44 victory at Hokes Bluff on Tuesday.

The win improved the Lady Warriors’ record to 17-4. No further stats from the game were available.

Hokes Bluff boys 75, Cherokee County boys 39

HOKES BLUFF – The Cherokee County Warriors dropped a Class 4A, Area 11 basketball game at Hokes Bluff on Tuesday.

Wade Griffith led the Warriors (5-16) with 10 points.

Isaac Haas netted a game-high 18 points for the Eagles (16-6), who clinched the area championship with the win. Tanner Shields added 15 points. Jake Ingram had 14 points and Nick Woodruff finished with 10 points.

Cherokee County travels to Etowah on Thursday.

Valley Head girls 67, Cedar Bluff girls 54

VALLEY HEAD – Cedar Bluff had three players reach double figures Tuesday at Valley Head, but they weren’t enough to lead the Lady Tigers to victory.

Haven Downer scored a game-high 45 points to propel Valley Head to a 67-45 win.

Audrianna Hargitt led Cedar Bluff (12-10) with 19 points. Katie McGinnis added 14 points and Hannah Leach finished with 12 points.

Cedar Bluff travels to Spring Garden on Friday at 6 p.m.

Cedar Bluff boys 74, Valley Head boys 51

VALLEY HEAD – Terrence Scales netted 18 points to lead the Cedar Bluff Tigers past Valley Head 74-51 on Tuesday.

DeAngelo Hardy added 17 points for the Tigers (14-7). Rickey Pendley finished with 10 points.

Cedar Bluff travels to Spring Garden on Friday.
