The National Park Service and staff will present Green and Gray Living programs on the second Saturday of each month at Littl River Canyon Center in Fort Payne from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Topics include climate change, recycling, energy conservation, eco-gardening, exotic plants, native landscaping, pollution prevention, green energy and more. The Cherokee County Public Library has on ongoing book sale. Get paperbacks for as little as a dime and hardbacks for as little as 50 cents or $1. The library is open today from 8 a.m. until noon. Call the library at 256-927-5838 for further information.

In junior high school basketball action, the Junior High County Tournament will be played at Cedar Bluff, TBD and the Calhoun County Tournament at Jacksonville State, TBD.

Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce has declared JANUARY “RESTAURANT MONTH” in Cherokee County. In observance, local restaurants are offering specials throughout the month. Call the Chamber at (256)927-8455 for information on participating restaurants and the specials they may be offering.

Visit the beautiful Rock Village, home of some of the best hiking and rock climbing throughout the world. Enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. Go to the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Highway 68 in Leesburg, turn right, turn left on Cherokee County 36, to the intersection of County Road 36 and County Road 70, turn left and follow the signs.

The Centre First Baptist Church contemporary worship service, “Impact” begins at 8:30 a.m.

The Edge, a contemporary worship service that welcomes each person as he or she is and challenges us all to grow together in our faith in Jesus Christ, meets at 8:45 a.m. at Centre First United Methodist Church.

Cherokee County Commission Chairman/Probate Judge Kirk Day will be sworn in this Sunday, Jan. 13, beginning at 3 p.m., in the Cherokee County Courthouse. Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore will administer the oath of office. A reception will follow in the Cherokee County Administration Building.
