NEW SUPERINTENDENT SWORN IN. Mitchell Guice recites the oath of office as new superintendent of Cherokee County Schools during a recent ceremony held at Cherokee County Career and Technology Center. Guice brings 28 years of experience to this job. He taught Industrial Arts for the Opelika City Board of Education for two years and was and Agri-Science Teacher with Tuscaloosa County Board of Education for 8 years.
This is his eighteenth year in school administration which has all been served with the Cherokee County BOE.
Circuit Judge Jeremy Taylor officiated the ceremony and swore in the new Superintendent. Guice, surrounded by family and friends, swore to faithfully and honestly discharge the duties of the office of superintendent of the BOE to the best of his ability.
He then proceeded to thank Judge Taylor for coming and for the many supporters who came to take part in this special day.
Guice stated his goal for all of the schools was to improve the graduation rate and test scores. He stated “I want our students to be able to graduate high school and go on to lead happy productive lives.”
