ALBERTVILLE - Courtney Rowe came away with 13 points, eight steals, six rebounds, three assists and a pair of block shots to lead the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats to a 48-34 basketball victory at Asbury on Friday.

Jolonna Silva added 10 points, three boards and a steal for the Lady Wildcats (11-4). Emily Langley contributed eight points, three rebounds and three assists. Madison McCullough finished with five points and six boards.

In the varsity nightcap, the Wildcat boys fell 72-56, dropping their record to 7-9. No further information was available.

Sand Rock jumps back into Class 2A, Area 11 action on Tuesday at Gaston.

Cedar Bluff girls 60, Gaylesville girls 37

CEDAR BLUFF - Audrianna Hargitt netted 16 points, Hannah Leach added 12 and Katie McGinnis contributed 10 to lead the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers to a 60-37 basketball victory over Class 1A, Area 10 rival Gaylesville on Friday.

Cedar Bluff (8-8, 3-2) led 16-15 at the end of the first quarter, then took a 35-24 advantage heading into halftime. The Lady Tigers led 48-31 at the end of three quarters.

Lauren Hammett led Gaylesville (4-7, 1-4) with 11 points. Taylor Tomlin finished with 10 points.

Cedar Bluff hosts Collinsville on Tuesday, while Gaylesville hosts Coosa Christian.

Piedmont girls 49, Wellborn girls 10

ANNISTON - BreAnna Thompson scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Class 3A, No. 10 Piedmont to a 49-10 basketball victory over Wellborn on Friday.

Piedmont (12-4) plays at Handley on Saturday.

Cherokee County splits at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE - In a battle of ranked Class 4A girls basketball teams Friday, No. 4 Jacksonville got the better of eighth-ranked Cherokee County 50-39 on Friday.

The Lady Warriors (12-4, 2-1 Area 11) trailed by a point at 26-25 at halftime, but Jacksonville stretched its lead to 39-30 at the end of the third quarter.

In boys action, the Warriors improved to 4-12 (1-2 Area 11) by narrowly escaping with a 61-59 win at Jacksonville. No further information was available.

Cherokee County hosts Hokes Bluff on Tuesday.
