For the first timc community members were invited to add decorated trees into the park setting.
Suzanne Mohler and Nell Oliver had this idea and it grew, and will probably become a permanent addition to this annual park program.
Trees were to be judged, with a portion of an entry fee going to pay for additional electricity the mark might use and prizes.
Cedar Bluff Elementary School children made ornaments and decorated several trees.
The Cherokee Rose Garden Club decorated a tree with bird feeders.
Another tree decorated with fishing lures was placed in memorial for Lawson Cochran, a deceased, beloved fisherman in this area.
The Cedar Bluff Police and Fire Departments and Gaylesville Trojanettes decorated trees.
Some of the businesses in the are who entered trees were the Upside Boutique, CiCi Bug’s, Parkside Music School, This & That and Joyce Brown’s Embroidery Business.
Mayor Martha Baker opened the program with Evan Smith following as MC. Entertainment included the Afterschool Handbell Choir from Cedar Bluff School and the newly formed Gaylesville School Chorus directed by Brandon Snow, minister of music at Centre First Baptist Church.
Performing groups from Promised Land Worship Center directed by Kathy Harper and Jami Beck performed with several solos by Tim Lou Allen.
The program was to conclude when an unexpected visitor arrived, THE GRINCH WHO TRIED TO STEAL CHRISTMAS at neighboring Whoville several years ago.
He was captured by Steve Walden, the police chief of Cedar Blfuf and put in jail to the delight of those in attendance. CHRISTMAS was saved! Santa arrived and all took turns sitting in the swing with Santa and his Elf whispering wishes for Christmas in Santa’s ear.
Spending time at the Cedar Bluff Park this season is a great activity for your family.
Playing on the playground, riding bikes on the enclosed roadway, taking a closer look at the trees and/or walking the marked sidewalk are all free activities that can be enjoyed by your family.
