The Cherokee County Commission met in regular session on Dec. 10 with all members present.

One of the first items on the agenda was a resolution honoring retiring Probate Chief Clerk Debbie Bankson. Bankson was hired as a clerk in the Probate Office in July 1977 and was appointed Chief Clerk in October 1984. A resolution was also approved recognizing Agents Shawn Rogers and Joe Johnson of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department. The resolution stated that they were being honored for their acts above and beyond the call of duty in order to protect and provide safety for the citizens of Cherokee County. In working with others, they were able to achieve this outstanding commendation. Sheriff Shaver and Commander Clifton presented them with the General Commendation Medal of Achievement as many friends, family members and co-workers look on.

Chairman Salter announced that the Park and Recreation Board appointments/reappointments for the unexpired term of Gary Banister who resigned and 2 members whose terms expire December 31, 2012 would be made at the January 14, 2013 meeting.

Also at this same meeting, the appointments/reappointments for 3 members of the Cherokee County Health Care Authority will be made.

In other business, the Commission:
