A lot of things were discussed during this meeting and making preparations for the first actual town meeting the second Monday in December.
Appointments of Police Chief, Fire Chief, and Town Clerk will be made on December 10, 2012.
An annual statement of commitment to safety was presented. The town having this document will qualify the town for 10 percent discount on worker’s compensation insurance.
Mayor Baker gave the council and update on the tree removal on the causeway.
To comply with citizen’s request of certain species of tress to be left, a new quote for the removal of the trees had to be gotten.
The new quote for this project is $77,488.00 which includes the removal of Mimosa Trees because they were cited as being a non-native invasive species by environmentalist.
Baker told the council that the sign at the corner of Highway 68 and County Road 44 would have to be moved.
Other items of business discussed were that of The Tillotson-Menio Foundation Grand has been approved in the amount of $5,000 to be used for Liberty Day Fireworks.
Also the 2013 Alabama League of Municipalities Convention will be held in May.
