Kiwanis of Cherokee County meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at noon in the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce meeting room, 801 Cedar Bluff Road, Centre, Ala. 35960.
Cherokee County Park Board meets the second and fourth Wednesday at 1 p.m. in their new office space at 104-B Northwood Drive in Centre in the same building with John Coggin's Law office and Alabama Power Weiss Lake Shoreline Mgmt Office. Meetings are open to the public.
Centre Fire Department will conduct its annual Christmas toy drive through Dec. 14. Unwrapped toys can be dropped off at several locations around Centre or at the fire station Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All donations will benefit children in Cherokee County through the Nettie Brown Clearinghouse and other local charities. The 21st Century Program in partnership with the Humane Society in Cedar Bluff is collecting items for animals in the shelter through Dec. 17.
