MR. ERVIN GREGORY "GREG" STANLEY

Mr. Ervin Gregory “Greg” Stanley, 61, of Rome, passed away Tuesday evening, November 13, 2012, at his home following an illness of several months. Mr. Stanley was born in Jasper, Georgia, Mr. Stanley was a graduate of Coosa High School and attended Coosa Valley Technical School and auto mechanics classes in Forsyth. Mr. Stanley was formerly associated with his father’s station, Ervin Stanley’s Service Station in North Rome and Roland Godfrey’s Texaco on Martha Berry Boulevard prior to opening Greg Stanley Automotive 27 years ago. Mr. Stanley was a big NASCAR fan, and of the Baptist faith.

Memorial services for Mr. Stanley will be held Saturday afternoon, November 17, 2012, at 3:00 pm at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Stanley’s family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cancer Navigators, 1013 North Fifth Avenue, Rome, Ga., 30161 or to the Heyman Hospice, 420 East Second Avenue, Rome, Ga. 30161.

Survivors include his daughter, Ms. Cristal Stanley Swann, Rome; sisters, Mrs. Diane Swinford, Armuchee, Mrs. Carolyn Young, Rome, Mrs. Debbie Galloway, Crystal River, Florida, a special niece, Miss Lindsey Watson, and special nephews, Chad Watson and Reese (Little G) and a number of other nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Stanley was the son of the late Ervin F. Stanley and the late Frances Inez Walters Stanley.

Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Wayne Stanley and his parents,Ervin F. Stanley and Frances Inez Walters Stanley.
