ANNISTON – Anniston’s first home win of the season just so happened to come on homecoming.

The Bulldogs (4-3) defeated Cherokee County (0-7) 48-14 on Friday night, playing well in all aspects of the game and eliminating costly penalties.

After holding the Warriors on their first drive of the game, the Bulldogs went down the field, scoring on a three-yard run by tailback Rashard Williams, his first of four touchdowns on the night, to take an early 7-0 lead.

It didn’t take long for the running back to find the end zone again as he scored again on Anniston’s ensuing drive from six yards out after the defense forced Cherokee County three-and-out.

With a 21-6 lead at the half, Da’Monta Miller set the tone for the second half, returning the opening kickoff 65 yards for a score. The Bulldogs coasted from that point on.

Williams finished the night recording 201 yards along with his four scores on 17 carries. Quintavious Dobbins completed 6 of 8 passes for 39 yards and also had a rushing touchdown.

Stats for Cherokee County were unavailable as of this posting.
