The Annual 411 Yard Sale is scheduled. The Sale begins Wednesday, Oct. 3, and continues through Saturday, the 6th. Hundreds of vendors will line the route from Leeds, Ala. to the Knoxville, Tennessee, area. Cherokeans Carolyn Turner and Ray Tinsley were the first promoters of the big sale — which began in 2003.
On Oct 6, at 9 am, the day of Centre's Annual Fall Festival and Parade, the Cherokee County Historical Museum and the Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame will present a new exhibit about the history of Hatcher Junior and Senior High School in Centre, Alabama. The exhibit will display black education and sports history at Hatcher High School through a series of photos, sports memorabilia, and large screen displays. The Centre Fall Festival, an annual event sponsored by the City of Centre, is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Main Street. The event will include a 5K run, parade, entertainment, more than 100 vendors of artists, crafts, homemakde baked goods, jewelry, woodwork, civic and church fund raisers, inflatables and much more! The festival is held the first Saturday in October of each year at 8 a.m.
In high school volleyball action, the Dekalb County Tournament will be played with Collinsville vs. Geraldine, TBD.
