Cedar Bluff volleyball team sweeps Gaylesville, Sylvania

CEDAR BLUFF – The Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers swept a pair of home volleyball matches Monday. Cedar Bluff defeated Class 1A, Area 13 rival Gaylesville 25-4, 25-13, 25-15, then defeated Sylvania 25-11, 25-16 to improve to 15-12 on the season.

Against Gaylesville, Audrianna Hargitt posted 17 kills, 17 digs, four blocks, seven aces and an assist. Hannah Leach added 11 kills, eight digs and an assist. Abby Storey came away with three kills, 14 digs, four aces and an assist.

Raveen McElrath managed a kill, eight digs and 30 assists. Paige Bryant had 11 digs and six aces. Jasmine Adams posted eight digs, two kills and three blocks. Marigrace Wilson finished with four kills and two digs.

In the win over Sylvania, Hargitt had nine kills, 10 digs, a block and an ace. Leach managed 11 kills, eight digs, four assists and an ace. Storey contributed eight digs, four kills and a pair of assists. McElrath came away with 14 digs, 13 assists, two aces and a kill.

Adams added three digs, three assists, two kills, two aces and a block. Wilson had three digs, two kills and a block. Bryant finished with three digs and a pair of aces.

Cedar Bluff hosts Collinsville and Cherokee County Tuesday beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Collinsville defeats Coosa Christian

GADSDEN – Christy Cox came away with 29 kills, 11 digs and five blocks while Kiana Ford added 20 kills and five digs to lead Class 1A, No. 5 Collinsville to a pair of volleyball victories at Coosa Christian on Monday. The first match scores were 25-27, 25-13, 15-4. The second match scores were 25-10, 20-25, 15-9.

Brittney Tidmore was 26 of 29 on serve with 10 aces and 22 assists for the Lady Panthers (17-5).

Collinsville was also scheduled to play Weaver on Monday, but won by forfeit.

The Lady Panthers travel to Cedar Bluff on Tuesday for a tri-match with Cherokee County.
