Park Ranger Jon Newman said Ragland was swimming in an area known as High Rock, a 10 to 15 foot cliff popular among swimmers. Rangers initially received a call around 1:30 p.m.
According to reports, a woman was on a float attempting to find Ragland who jumped in and did not resurface.
The park’s fire technician, Newman said, jumped in the water and brought the woman to shore. The chief ranger dove in and tried to locate Ragland but was unable to do so.
Newman said they contacted the Fischer Rescue Squad’s dive team and that members of the team recovered Ragland’s body in approximately 12 feet of water after a few minutes.
