Spring Sports Roundup: Sand Rock’s Chambers, Jimmerson combine to no-hit Gaylesville

GAYLESVILLE – Sand Rock’s Dustin Chambers and Ethan Jimmerson combined to no-hit the Gaylesville Trojans in baseball action Monday, a 13-2 victory by the Wildcats.

Chambers picked up the win for Sand Rock (7-9). Jimmerson also helped the Wildcats out at the plate by going 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Austin Chambers was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Zane Farrar was also 2 for 4, and Austin Carver belted a two-run homer.

Sand Rock hosts Class 2A, Area 13 rival Westbrook Christian on Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Softball

Cherokee County 11, Plainview 1

FORT PAYNE – Tori Davis did a little of everything for the Class 4A, No. 3 Cherokee County Lady Warriors Monday against Plainview.

Davis allowed one run on three hits with no walks and nine strikeouts in the Lady Warriors’ 11-1 victory. She also went 1 for 2 with two RBIs at the plate.

Audra Bradley connected on a two-run homer and had a single. Madison Millsaps and Molly Brewer were both 2 for 3, scored a pair of runs and drove in another run apiece. Haley Free was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and scored a run. Darbie Rosser was 2 for 2 with a run and a RBI.

Cherokee County takes on Fort Payne on Tuesday.

Golf

Kerr leads Spring Garden to second-place finish at Stoney Brook

JACKSONVILLE – Spring Garden’s Dalton Kerr took second place individually after carding a 40, helping the Panthers earn a second-place showing Monday at Stoney Brook Golf Course in Jacksonville.

The Panthers totaled 182 as a team. Jacksonville finished first at 171. Saks (196), Sacred Heart (222) and Ohatchee (232) rounded out the field.

Panther team members are Kerr, Logan Whorton , Jay Prater, Dustin Formby, and Cody McWilliams.
