Little River Canyon National Preserve will host the second of the park’s monthly 2012 programs at the Little River Canyon Center on Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. with a program called Plants: Love Them, Love Them Not. Have you ever played this game with a daisy? Many of the daisies found at Little River Canyon are not native. Come to the program to see some of the similar native park flowers. This program is a free program just in time for Valentines Day thoughts of flowers and love. The program will show off some of the special and beautiful species of flowering plants from Little River Canyon and some of the exotic invading species of plants which make life miserable for the native species. Invasive exotic plants are on the move and may be in your neighborhood. Changes in weather patterns and a worldwide trade of seeds create a perfect opportunity for some plants to move in and take over your yard, garden and forest. Different Green and Gray Saturday programs will be presented at 10 a.m.on the second Saturday each month in 2012. The name Green and Gray Saturday reflects the uniform of the National Park Service.
