A portion of Cherokee County remained without power Tuesday morning after an oak tree fell on a three-phase line in Cherokee County Road 71 at the Terrapin Creek Bridge.
According to a spokesperson for Cherokee Electric Cooperative, this accident kicked the three-phase breaker at Nichols Animal Clinic, causing a number of outages in the Ball Play and surrounding areas as well. Crews are currently working to restore power in those areas.
Because of heavy rainfall, citizens are reporting a number of flooded areas including Park Street in Centre, portions of Highway 411 going into Gadsden and Highway 278 in southern Cherokee County. Problems have also been reported on Cherokee County Road 16 in the Noah Community.
Citizens are urged to drive with caution if they have to be out.
