Senior quarterback Cade Bradley completed 7 of 9 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs (7-0, 5-0). Piedmont’s defense took care of the rest, holding Susan Moore (3-4, 2-3) to just 156 total yards and only eight yards rushing.
Thompson got Piedmont on the scoreboard on its first offensive play – a 53-yard touchdown run. Senior kicker Dillon Terry connected on the first of his seven extra points to put the Bulldogs up 7-0 with 10:49 to go in the first quarter.
Thompson finished the game with 77 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries. Bradley tossed his first touchdown pass of the night with 7:33 to go in the opening quarter. This one went to sophomore receiver C.J. Savage for 75 yards, and it put Piedmont in front 14-0.
Savage was the Bulldogs top receiver with four catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns.
Thompson scored his second and final touchdown of the game on a 28-yard run at the 4:17 mark of the first quarter. Terry’s extra point gave the Bulldogs a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Bradley opened the second-quarter scoring by connecting with senior receiver Haden Downey on a 4-yard touchdown pass. The score capped a 7-play, 69-yard drive that put Piedmont in front 28-0 with 10:04 left before halftime.
Piedmont backup quarterback Tyler Lusk hooked up with Savage on a 40-yard touchdown connection with 7:30 to go in the second quarter. It was Lusk’s only throw of the night, and it gave the Bulldogs a 35-0 lead at halftime.
Thompson opened the third quarter with his 79-yard kickoff return for his third touchdown of the game. This one put Piedmont up 42-0 just 13 seconds into the third quarter.
Susan Moore finally got on the scoreboard with 10:42 remaining in the third quarter on a 48-yard pass. The extra point made it a 42-7 game.
Piedmont freshman running back Darnell Jackson tallied the game’s final touchdown – a 7-yard run with 7:15 to go in the third quarter.
Jackson finished with 52 yards on eight carries.
Piedmont returns home to face Saks on Friday.
