Visit the beautiful Rock Village, home of some of the best hiking and rock climbing throughout the world. Enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. Go to the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Highway 68 in Leesburg, turn right, turn left on Cherokee County 36, to the intersection of County Road 36 and County Road 70, turn left and follow the signs.

The Family Care Center at 1014 West Main St. includes a Thrift Store open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Family Care Center helps others by giving clothing, food and possibly hope to families in their time of need. The Center asks for your help by supporting its thrift stores. There are currently three locations, the one in Centre, another at 5511 Main St. in Hokes Bluff and another in Cedar Bluff. The Center is currently helping more than 100 families per week and thanks the community for its continued support. Director is Cindy McGinnis.

Cherokee County 3216, AARP (Amercian Association of Retired Persons) will meet at 10 a.m. in the conference room of Cherokee Medical Center. Guest speaker will be Leslie Harp of Rainbow City who is the new director of Senior Circle. The public is invited and lunch is available in the cafeteria.

The Annual 411 Yard Sale is scheduled. The Sake begins Wednesday, Oct. 3, and continues through Saturday, the 6th. Hundreds of vendors will line the route from Leeds, Ala. to the Knoxville, Tennessee, area. Cherokeans Carolyn Turner and Ray Tinsley were the first promoters of the big sale — which began in 2003.

Centre Lions Club meets at noon at Lanny’s Restaurant in Centre.
