Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce has declared JANUARY “RESTAURANT MONTH” in Cherokee County. In observance, local restaurants are offering specials throughout the month. Call the Chamber at (256)927-8455 for information on participating restaurants and the specials they may be offering.

With the dismissal of Cherokee County schools at 11 a.m. Thursday morning due to snow in the weather forecast, Cherokee County Basketball Tournament officials have postponed Thursday’s scheduled games at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena. The tournament will now begin on Friday at 4 p.m. with the Gaylesville-Cherokee County B-team boys game, followed by the Cedar Bluff varsity girls taking on Gaylesville at 5:30 p.m. Gaylesville-Cherokee County and Spring Garden-Sand Rock varsity boy games will conclude action on Friday at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. respectively.

Visit the beautiful Rock Village, home of some of the best hiking and rock climbing throughout the world. Enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. Go to the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Highway 68 in Leesburg, turn right, turn left on Cherokee County 36, to the intersection of County Road 36 and County Road 70, turn left and follow the signs.
