Sand Rock volleyball team splits with Fort Payne, Ashville

SAND ROCK – Class 2A, No. 6 Sand Rock split a pair of home volleyball matches Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats defeated Fort Payne 25-20, 25-16, but fell to Ashville 20-25, 25-23, 11-15.

Madison Smith led the charge for the Lady Wildcats (27-5) with 20 digs, 17 kills and five blocks. Amber Ashley added 19 kills. Ashley Norris contributed 39 assists. Kelsey Hayes came away with 25 digs and five kills. Shelley Sonaty finished with seven kills.

Sand Rock travels to Southside-Gadsden on Thursday for a tri-match with Arab.
