Phillip L. Roberts has qualified and seeks re-election to the Centre City Council. Roberts has lived in Centre most of his life and was a graduate of Cherokee County High school in 1978. He received certifications from Gadsden State Community College, Walker State and The Alabama State Board of Plumbers and Gas Fitters.
He retired as the Operations Manager from Dekalb Cherokee Counties Gas District, after 29 years of service. He has worked at Cherokee County Health and Rehabilitation for the past five years. He is a member of Centre First United Methodist Church.
Roberts is the son of the late Jack B. Roberts and Betty S. Roberts. He has been married to Gaye Simpson Roberts for the past 23 years. Together they have four children, Dr. Beverly McKee, Padgett Gilbert, Brandon Formby and Bridgett Beuckens. He is the proud granddaddy of three grandchildren, Natalie, Carly and Broyce.
Roberts has served as a member of the Centre City Council for the past four years. He serves on the Board of Directors at DeKalb Cherokee Counties Gas District and is a member of the CED Mental Health Board of Directors. He has recently received his certification as a Certified Municipal Officer Graduate.
During his term as a council member, Roberts has worked closely with the city employees, mayor and council members to improve the city and continue to help the city prosper during difficult economic times.
Roberts appreciates the confidence of the citizens of Centre and has enjoyed serving the needs of the city for the past four years. He pledges to continue to improve the city and work hard for the residents of Centre.
