CENTRE – The 2012 NFL Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) competition will take place this Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ed Yarbrough Park Soccer Field on Highway 9 in Centre.

The event is a free national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6-15. Boys and girls compete separately in five different age classifications (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) based upon the child’s age as of Dec. 31 of the current year. All children must show proof of age at all levels of competition.

The winners of each age group may advance to the local sectionals with a chance to make a NFL PPK team, and further on to the NFL Playoffs, where the top 32 from the country will compete.

No cleats or turf shoes are allowed at the competition and contestants must use the equipment provided by the NFL.

To register online for the event go to www.nfl.com and enter your zip code and then choose the location with Centre, AL.

Participants are encouraged to check with their state athletic associations to ensure that participation will not affect eligibility requirements.
