JSU baseball to host free junior clinic Sunday

JACKSONVILLE - Jacksonville State will host a free junior baseball clinic from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, at Rudy Abbott Field for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Gamecock head coach Jim Case and legendary coach Rudy Abbott will lead the camp, along with former Gamecock standouts Wes Brooks (Oxford High School) and Todd Cunningham (Atlanta Braves).

Other members of the clinic staff include Brandon Romans (Jacksonville State), Mike Murphree (Jacksonville State), Michael Graben (Heflin High School), Andy Shaw (Alexandria High School), James Blanchard (Piedmont High School), David Deerman (Jacksonville High School), Jay Stephens (JSU/Oxford), Evan Edge (Reds), Andrew Edge (Dodgers), Jackson Stephens (Reds), Saxon Butler (Yankees) and current members of the Jacksonville State baseball team will also assist with the clinic.

The clinic is free and all participants will be taught fundamental skills in all aspects of baseball, including hitting, fielding, pitching and base running. Little league coaches and youth sports coaches are encouraged to bring their entire team to this free clinic.

Kids should report to Rudy Abbott Field around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday to get ready for the cliinic.
