Will Hurricane Isaac and the rain he brings keep people away from the polls today? That is the million dollar question municipalities across the state are asking right now as they decide on mayors and council members for the next four years. And Cherokee County doesn't think so.

Pam Powell with Cedar Bluff Town Hall said they had already recorded 23 votes before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Centre City Clerk Mary Lee Tucker said the city polls had recorded 246 votes before 10:30 a.m.

Leesburg, in the same time period, had recorded 111 votes, said Town Clerk Jennifer Mackey.

The polls remain open until 7 p.m.
