Cedar Bluff enters latest volleyball rankings

The Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers cracked the top 10 in the latest Birmingham News volleyball poll, released on Thursday.

The Class 1A Lady Tigers (16-13) come in at No. 9. One other Area 14 team is ranked in the Class 1A poll, the Collinsville Lady Panthers (18-6). They held steady at No. 5. Cedar Bluff defeated Collinsville on Tuesday.

In Class 2A, the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats (23-4) maintained their No. 6 ranking. The Lady Wildcats will try to defend their Cherokee County Tournament championship Saturday against the winner of Gaylesville-Cherokee County.

Speaking of Cherokee County, the Lady Warriors (12-15) received consideration for the Class 4A rankings.

Other area teams receiving consideration for this week's poll were Class 1A Spring Garden (16-13) and Class 3A Piedmont (22-9).
