The board approved the 2012-2013 Language Arts Textbook Committee for Grades K-6 including Nikki Gossett-teacher and Anne Miller-reading coach for Cedar Bluff School; Cassandra Lindsey-teacher and Jennifer Lockridge-reading coach for Centre Elementary School; Dana Early-teacher, for Centre Middle School; Kathy Givens-teacher and Deanna Murphy-reading coach, for Gaylesville School; Lori Myrick-teacher and Denise Heard-reading coach for Sand Rock School; Sabrina Reedy-teacher and Sharon Hilburn-reading coach for Spring Garden School; Susan Baker for textbook office; Carrie Yakely-teacher for special education and Amanda Williams-parent.
The board approved the 2012-2013 Language Arts Textbook Committee for Grades 7-12 including Steve Bishop-teacher at Cedar Bluff School; Teresa Vaughn-teacher at Centre Middle School, Jennifer Speigner-teacher at Cherokee County High School; Brian Clowdis-teacher at Gaylesville School; Tammy Benefield-teacher at Sand Rock School; Lara Welsh-teacher at Spring Garden School; Susan Baker for textbook office and Jennifer McCord-teacher for special education and Leann Porter-parent.
The board also approved continuous improvement plants for Cedar Bluff School, Centre Elementary School, Centre Middle School, Cherokee County High School, Gaylesville School and Sand Rock School.
In other business, the board:
-Approved Governmental Entity Request from Sand Rock School to the Cherokee County Commission.
-Granted the superintendent the authority to approve bills for payment for the remainder of December.
The next meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education is Jan. 8, at 6 p.m., at the central office.
